It is my pleasure to address you as the new Ambassador of Switzerland to Indonesia, Timor-Leste and ASEAN. I look forward to building on Switzerland’s strong relations with this dynamic region and to creating new opportunities for cooperation. Equally, I will be happy to engage with the Swiss community.
Switzerland and Indonesia share a longstanding and multifaceted relationship, built on trust, cooperation and strong people-to-people ties. Over the decades, our partnership has grown across political dialogue, trade and investment, economic cooperation, education, science and innovation, sustainability, culture and tourism.
In 2026, we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations between Switzerland and Indonesia. This important milestone is an opportunity to look back with appreciation at what we have achieved together, while also looking ahead to new opportunities and the next chapters of our partnership.
Our economic relationship is an important pillar of these ties. More than 150 Swiss companies are active in Indonesia, and the EFTA-Indonesia Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) has created further opportunities for trade and investment. Through its economic cooperation programme, implemented by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), Switzerland also supports Indonesia’s efforts towards a more sustainable, resilient and competitive economy. Our cooperation spans areas including vocational education, private-sector development, sustainable landscapes, urban mobility and public financial management. Switzerland is also engaging closely with Indonesia in the context of its OECD accession process.
The Embassy is home to the Swiss Business Hub Southeast Asia + Pacific, which supports Swiss and Liechtenstein companies in exploring business opportunities in Indonesia and beyond, and promotes Switzerland as a business location. Our Switzerland Tourism team works closely with Indonesian partners, media and the travel industry to showcase Switzerland as a year-round destination.
From Jakarta, the Embassy also looks after Switzerland’s relations with Timor-Leste and ASEAN. As a Sectoral Dialogue Partner of ASEAN, Switzerland is committed to strengthening its engagement with Southeast Asia and contributing to a prosperous, connected and resilient region.
Our Embassy team, through the Consulate in Jakarta and Honorary Consulates in Bali and Makassar, also provides consular services for Swiss citizens throughout our area of accreditation and visas for both business and leisure travellers.
Ultimately, the strength of our relations lies with people. Governments, businesses, researchers, students, artists, tourists, civil society and countless individuals and communities contribute every day to bringing Switzerland and Indonesia, Timor-Leste and the wider ASEAN region closer together. Swiss citizens living in Indonesia and Timor-Leste, as well as travelers to and from Switzerland, can rely on the consular services offered by the Embassy, which are detailed on this website.
